This piece is loosely based on a photo taken by my wandering little sister. She possesses a gypsy-soul and is currently vagabonding around Asia.
She spent some down time on a beautiful beach in Thailand and snapped a photo of a group of young girls enjoying an evening stroll. She later told me these four little girls (all sisters), live in a way that we would consider abject poverty, yet they were always smiling and laughing…full of joy and loving life.
To me, this painting is a profound reminder of what is really important in this world…not things, but nature’s beauty and the love of family.
