I seem to be forever painting owls! I am fascinated by them and their mystique. The legends of wisdom, mystery, and magic make owls an ever captivating subject for my brush. I pictured a small enchanted glade where a worn-out fairy could lie down and rest. But instead, my brush brought to life a guardian tree spirit watching over my heroine. Her name is Oriana, which means blonde or gold. Gossamer wings are tucked back, and she is fast asleep, safely nestled under the protection of her companion. 16″ x 20″ acrylic on canvas
A gathering of owls is officially called a parliament. Sometimes a group of owls is referred to as a brood, nest, looming or wisdom. These three owls seem to have been interrupted mid-conversation. I’ve had a fascination with owls since I was a very little girl. My favorite puzzle depicted different species of owls. They were one of the first birds I learned to draw. I’m not sure why, but owls always intrigued me with their air of mystery.
