This piece, titled “At Rest” was inspired by a beautiful photograph of a gorgeous girl who came into our lives for a time while she was a high school exchange student from Germany visiting our little town in North Idaho. Nika gave me the go-ahead when I inquired about using her photo as a reference and I had a marvelous time creating this image. (Thank you, Nika!) My mermaid is at last resting forever, softly and quietly at the bottom of the sea; lovingly attended by the little creatures that pay their final respects in carefully gathered sea treasures.
