I love the story of the Firebird (sometimes called the Phoenix). This image was very much inspired by Ludek Manasek’s pictures in the 1969 children’s book retelling the story of Fokine’s ballet. I received this book as a child, treasured it and passed it along to my own children…who also loved the pictures & wonderful story.
