Everyone close to me knows of my lifelong fascination with mermaids. Those always beautiful, mysterious, and hauntingly lyrical creatures of the sea. Everything about them captures my interest…
I have loved them since I was a little girl, and remember drawing pages of them trying to get the tail just right. Luckily, my mother thought every drawing was a masterpiece and saved some of those early attempts. It’s wonderful now, to be able to look back at Crayola sketches done by my six-year-old self. (Thanks, Mom!)
I’m glad to say I’ve improved, even though those early drawings weren’t bad!
The fascination continues to this day, and every so often, a new mermaid swims to the edge of my imagination and pesters me into bringing her to life. “Interlude” is the most recent piece, but I am sure it won’t be the last.
This is an 11″ x 14″ art print, reproduced from the acrylic painted original. It has a 3/8″ white border (best for matting purposes). I have signed it on the back.
